A five-minute short film created to bring global attention to the Iranian revolution that began with the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in September 2022.
As coverage of Iran faded from the news cycle, women, children and protesters were being imprisoned and killed for demanding basic human rights. Lioness was made so the message could travel across cultures, far beyond Iran.
Written, shot and edited in just over four weeks, the film went viral overnight, passing one million views in its first night, and went on to critical acclaim at festivals around the world.
